What is valium ?

valium helps those people who suffer from anxiety. It dissolves in your bloodstream and affects chemicals that are unbalanced in the brain. This medicine belongs to a family of medication called Benzodiazepines. It used for the treatment of anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms. It may be used with other medicines for the treatment of seizures.

Diazepam helps you to relax before any operation or dental treatment. It is known as “pre-med.”.

Important Information:

This medicine should not be used by someone who allergic to Diazepam or similar drugs like Klonopin, Xanax, and others. Do not use it if you have myasthenia gravis, severe liver disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, a severe breathing problem, or sleep apnea.

Abusing this drug may cause addiction, overdose, or death. Do not use this medicine without any prescription. Do not give it to children; fatal side-effects may take place.

Do not use Diazepam with alcohol or any other opioid medicine or other drugs that cause drowsiness or slow your breathing. Using it with alcohol may put you in some serious trouble. Taking this medicine with alcohol may put you in a profound sleep or may have difficulty in waking up.

The most common side-effect of this medicine is feeling drowsy. It is not prescribed to use Diazepam for longer than four weeks.

Do not use any tools or drive or operate machinery after taking this medicine because you may feel sleepy after taking this medicine.

Before Taking This Medicine:

Diazepam comes in the form of tablets and liquid and can be taken by adults aged 18 years or above. It may also prescribe children aged one month or above only for muscle spasms.

This medication is not suitable for everyone. For making sure it is safe for you, tell your doctor before taking it that you have –

• Any allergic reaction to diazepam or any other medication.
• Liver or kidney problems
• Depression or thoughts of harming yourself or suicide
• Diagnosed with a personality disorder
• A condition that causes breathing problems when you are asleep
• Alcoholic
• Low level of a protein called albuminin your blood
• If you are going to be pregnant or you are pregnant, then do not use this medicine because it may cause addiction to newborns.
• If you breastfeed your baby, then do not take this because it may pass into breast milk. This may be dangerous for your baby.

How Should I Take valium ?

valium tablets can be taken with a drink of water. You can take this medicine with or without food. It can usually be accompanied by one to three times a day, as your doctor prescribed. Doses of Diazepam should be decided by your doctor. It is essential to take your medicine exactly as your doctor suggests to you.

valium is not available without showing prescription from any authority.

The usual doses for Anxiety is 2mg taken three times a day. This may be increased to 5 mg to 10 mg 3 times a day.

Muscle spasms in adults are 2mg to 15 mg a day. This can be given as 1 mg twice a day and go up to 5mg three times a day. It can be increased up to 20 mg three times a day if needed.

Muscle spasms in children vary depending on age. It is usually given twice a day, with 10 to 12 hours between each dose.

Sleep problems are 5mg to 15mg taken once a day at bedtime.

What Happens If I Miss A Dose?

If you forget to take your dose, then take it as soon as you remember. Leave a missed dose if your next dose is almost near. Do not take too much medicine to make up the missed dose.

What Happens If I Overdose?

An overdose of this drug may put you in some dangerous situation. If you feel you use Diazepam in excess, immediately call the Poison Helpline at 1-800-222-1222 or seek medical emergency.

Overdosing symptoms May include extreme drowsiness, loss of balance or coordination, limp or weak muscles, or fainting.

What Should I Avoid While Taking valium ?

Do not drink alcohol with this medicine; it may be dangerous for you. Taking this medication with alcohol may put you in deep sleep or feel your problem in waking up.

Do not use any machinery or drive a motor vehicle after taking this medicine because this drug may feel you sleepy while you are doing these works. It may be dangerous for you and others.

Grapefruit may react with Diazepam and lead to unwanted side-effects, so avoid the use of grapefruit while taking this medicine.

Valium Side Effects:

If you feel difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, get emergency medical help. These side-effects of Diazepam are rare and put you in some severe trouble.

It may slow or stop your breathing or may cause you to death. If you are suffering from slow breathing with long pauses, blue colored lips, or if you are hard to wake up, then request a person caring for you to seek emergency medical attention.

Consult with your doctor if you are feeling

• Weak or shallow breathing
• Severe drowsiness or feeling like you might pass out
• Thoughts of suicide, depressed mood, or hurting yourself.
• Confusion, hallucinations
• Anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping
• Hyperactivity, agitation, aggression, hostility
• Unusual risk-taking behavior
• New or worsening seizures

There is some severe side-side effect of this medicine that may be possible after taking this medicine. If you feel any symptoms then immediately go for a medical emergency

• Your breathing becomes very slow or shallow
• Your skin or your eyes turn yellow
• You find it difficult to remember things
• You think things that are not true
• Hallucinations
• You keep falling over

This is very rare that some people may experience unusual mood changes. This is a severe condition and more likely to happen in children or if you are over 65.
